The Islander Saltaire ISL-281 is a compact, highly capable solar-powered dive watch featuring a crisp pure white dial, sapphire crystal, 200-meter water resistance and an innovative Miyota 2070 Ring Solar movement. At just 38mm, it offers serious dive-watch specifications in an exceptionally wearable package. (Long Island Watch)

One of the most interesting features of the Saltaire is its unusual solar technology. Instead of placing the solar collector underneath the dial, the Miyota 2070 positions the solar collector around the rehaut/chapter ring. This allows Islander to use a fully opaque dial rather than the partially translucent dials commonly required by solar watches. (Long Island Watch)

The Miyota 2070 provides approximately four months of operation from a full charge and is rated to an accuracy of approximately ±20 seconds per month. It also incorporates an EOL (End-of-Life) indicator: when the stored charge becomes low, the seconds hand begins moving in two-second increments to signal that the watch needs additional exposure to light. The stainless-steel case measures a compact 38mm in diameter, 12.5mm thick and 46mm lug-to-lug, making the Saltaire particularly comfortable for everyday wear. Despite its modest dimensions, a screw-down crown helps provide a substantial 200 meters of water resistance. (Long Island Watch)

Protecting the pure white dial is a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. Surrounding it is a 120-click unidirectional dive bezel topped with a domed mineral-crystal ring. Super-LumiNova is applied to the dial, hands and bezel for strong low-light visibility. (Long Island Watch)

The Saltaire is supplied on a substantial stainless-steel bracelet featuring solid links and solid end links. Screwed links make sizing straightforward, while the six-position tool-free ratcheting micro-adjust clasp allows quick adjustment directly on the wrist.
